Deirdre and Martin would be delighted to welcome you to our home, Church House in the picturesque Forest of Dean village of Newnham-on-Severn.

We bought the house in 2014 with a view to opening it as a Bed and Breakfast. In order to provide a comfortable and relaxed environment in which our guests can recharge their batteries or base themselves to enjoy the many and varied outdoor activities which the Forest of Dean can supply, we set about revamping the house and bringing it up to modern standards.

Church House was built around 1800 and is a Grade II listed building. We have embraced the listing requirements and ensured that what we have done with the house is in keeping with its age and history, whilst updating the facilities provided as much as possible.

The Forest of Dean is a thriving area for food production, and the breakfasts that we provide use locally sourced food wherever possible. We also provide evening meals on request, and if you are interested, just let us know at the time of booking your stay.

We both love whisky and, while whisky is not something which one associates with the Forest of Dean, we have a whisky “snug” available to guests. We will provide a range of interesting and unusual whiskies which can be enjoyed in our calming “snug” where you can relax and read from our range of whisky themed books and magazines or simply watch the TV.

The Forest of Dean is well known for its outdoor activities including walking, cycling along the many cycle paths and surfing up the river Severn on the Severn Bore! We are close to the Gloucestershire towns of Gloucester and Cheltenham with its famous race course, and also to Monmouth and Ross-on-Wye. All in all, you won’t find yourselves lacking in things to do, and will have a relaxing and comfortable room with all modern conveniences to come back to in the evening.
